Cruisin Main Street 2007
Around 9:00am, cars started rolling into Mornington for our second Cruisin' Main Street. By 10:00am, the Park at the end of Main St was filling quickly with street rods, muscle cars and classics. The coffee was flowing, the BBQ was cooking, the free bus to Craft Market was shuttling entrants, the traders were set up and dealing and the band 'Two Phase' were tuning up. The kids activities had started up and the 'lucky entrants ticket' winners were grinning. The weather forecast obviously kept a few at home, but the great variety and quality of over 160 great 'chrome bumper cars' filling the Park, provided plenty of 'chrome bumpers' for the entrants and the public to check out.
We had a number of trade stands, including the HSV merchandise van providing some great deals. Among the traders was 'The Bow Tie Garage' from Somerville. Proprietor, Phil Thomson, not only provided a great trolley floor jack as a prize for the day, but, has come on board as a supporter of Let's Go Cruisin's year round activities. Phil also managed to raffle off a new welder from his trade stand. Thank you Phil for the great support. You can learn more about 'The Bow Tie Garage' from their web site www.bowtiegarage.com.au
At 1:00pm, it was time to draw the names of our winners in the Cruisers Special Draw, and with around a $1000 worth of goodies up for grabs, there were plenty of Cruisers present at the draw. Congratulations to our 3 winners, Peter Hall, Linda & Pat Doolan and Anthony Sammut, who had only joined up earlier in the day.
Not forgetting the other entrants, we kept drawing ' lucky ticket' numbers and the prizes kept disappearing off the table. Another $1000 worth in total.
The kids weren't forgotten and prizes and encouragement awards for the colouring in contest and the 'frog in the jar' were presented.
At 2:00pm, it was time to announce Jimmy Vincitorio as our latest Real Car Guy recipient. Jimmy attends many events in his immaculate Warwick Yellow HK 'GTS' Monaro. Bill Duyvestyn presented Jimmy with a Real Car Guy jacket provide by ACDelco along with lots of goodies, including another free year's subscription as a Cruiser. Congratulations Jimmy.
We'd also invited the Mornington branch of the Variety Club to participate in this year's event which resulted in Alan Newton presenting a $500 cheque from Let's Go Cruisin' to John Crossin to help continue the great work this organization does.
By 3:00pm, another Cruisin Main St was winding down.
We'd like to thank the Mornington Chamber of Commerce for again sponsoring this years Cruisin' Main St. along with the many Main St. traders who provided the many discounts and deals for entrants to benefit from.
Also our business supporters, ACDelco, Preston Motors [ Parts Sales ] P/L, Shannons Insurance, Acme Signs, and now The Bow Tie Garage, who's support makes our activities possible.
Thanks to all the team from Let's Go Cruisin' and our volunteers on the day, Mark McDonald, Megan & Scott Worsfold and Troy Jenkin for the considerable effort of making this event another successful day out 'with family, friends and our favourite cars'.
