About the RACV Great Australia Rally
This historic motoring event has been sponsored by the RACV since 1999. The rally is held each year in January and has grown to become Victoria's largest veteran, vintage and classic car rally with vehicles travelling from Melbourne to the Mornington Peninsula and finishing at the Mornington Racecourse, where the vehicles are placed on display and the public encouraged to interact with the participants.
The RACV Great Australian Rally is designed to give enjoyment to historic motorists and the wider community while providing much needed funds to Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre. The very successful 2006 event raised $30,000 for Peter Mac.
All veteran, vintage, classic and modern classic vehicles, motor cycles and commercial vehicles over 25 years old are eligible to enter. This is a red plate event and all club permit vehicles are invited to participate by the organising club, the All British Classics Car Club.
There are four start locations for the 2007 rally including:
- Fox Car Museum at the Melbourne Docklands
- Civic Centre, City of Casey
- Brandon Park Shopping Centre, Mulgrave
- Western Port Marina, Hastings (1935 and prior vehicles only, although these may start at one of the other points if preferred)
Entry fee is $30. All entrants receive a free rally bag including a commemorative RACV Great Australian Rally badge.
